While SS 2012 is obsessing with prints and vivid colors, I just got out of black as I impose it. And while reading newspaper and contemplating on what is going on with our Mother Earth, colors become my sudden yearnings.

Hey, did you know that writing is relieving? Mine is twisted and turned to collages. Putting something together, piece by piece is unexpectedly therapeutic!

So after having so much fun watching Gaga and err.. her male alter ego, Jo Calderone - mechanic lad from Sicily, having the moment. Thus, I did a little digging.

Ain't he hot? I bet! Something interesting Gaga said, "you will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don't love yourself." Jo Calderone was also on the cover of Vogue Homme Japan, Sep Issue (but it's been spread widely in the Internet a month ago!). 'Nuff said, I think I'm in love.

What's happening in Poland? I've been tipped off with the latest from what's occurring on the other side of the Earth - thanks to the technology. And I do love to support young talents and emerging young designers. And this time I'm vouching for young souls from Poland. Cracow Fashion Awards, a Polish contest for young designers, has for the third time opened Cracow Fashion Week. Since 1996, Cracow Fashion Awards has annually promoted emerging talents in fashion design, who have recently graduated from Cracow School of Art and Fashion Design.

Creativity, innovation and individualism have once again hit the catwalk. The event included attendance of fashion lovers, press and celebrities from Poland and Europe. The competition surpassed expectations, delivering fifty-one outstanding collections to an audience of over one thousand people. Each student presented at least eight designs before a jury of Polish and international fashion icons.

At this point I’m quite certain it’s safe to assume that October is the happiest month in Thailand for fashion lovers and industrial relevant people since it is this month where we get to see upcoming new wave of designers, including those who were approvingly successful abroad. From Pathumwan intersection down to Ratchaprasong area sure is a must-go shopping destination. Other than being a key business road, shoppers can also find a broad range of garment from street fashion up to haute couture design from house of Yoswadee.

But this week is different: I can dwell into the touch of high quality fabrics ruffling swaggeringly as models strutted down to the rhythm which makes you want to bring out your best-est choreography. Luckily for the whole market, the MOC understood the needs to help push fashion business and executed so with nation-wide advertisement. But was it sufficient? Fashion vibes faded from Thailand a while back, but today number of aspiring youngster are intangible and growing. What lacks here is financial education and capital support – help new comers understand the importance of financial backup or help meet investors.

Actually the title says differently: Siam Center on Third Fashion Bazaar Party. Before I pique any more of your curiosity, the event takes place in the department. The entire floor is a home to designers' flagship stores. The concept is to habituate the concept of Fashion Night Out where we get to enjoy up to 30% discount.

I was also given an opportunity to help decorate SENADA flagship for this special FNO! The only thing I missed was that big chocolate cake sitting the middle of the room.

There are fun in every style, even in being a minimalist. If you know your body proportion and what flatters your body, even basics can spice up your style rather than predictable American apparels.

The above editorial kills me, literally dead! She's my favorite utilitarian in-and-outside movies. Believe me I've seen many women had their back tattooed just Jolie's - same artist to some (she had it done here in Thailand).

The woman is sexy without trying. Honestly, how many times you've seen ones manage to pull it like Jolie does? To me that sexy hourglass shape allows her minimalism to maximal extent.

You know, they [researchers] say people with tattoos have had a rough childhood. And inking is just a way to express their stories. I'm getting one for myself but unless I find what I have to say I probably won't get it. Tattoo has to have subliminal meaning to me. Her tattoos won't mean much to me because they don't tell my story. But still, I find women with tattoo very sexy.

I've said it but with Karl Lagerfeld saying is just like a reassurance: you have to be interested in what's going on, always be informed. Technology is one thing, high fashion is also one thing. With technology, fashion has become more accessible. People love the trend, it drives the economy. What's intrigues my curiosity is Mr. Ford's sense of privacy of the exclusivity - about how internet eats up images before they can be bought. Onto my harmless question, aren't those factors which stimulate the urges to shop or this subliminal message just indicates that fashion should has a certain level of accessibility?

Photoshoot was a success! :D I should have recorded everything from outfit #1 down to the last garment. Unfortunately, I was on the phone with everyone almost all the time and the showroom is located outskirt of Bangkok - a confusing route to get by. I'm glad the photoshoot was a success. Biggest thanks to: JJ Wright, Alien Kanyanat Bamrungphong, Prachaya Krajangrat, Parkorn Mairaing, Benjamas Puttiwongsasoontorn, Bunka, Adamo and my oldest friend Kotchaporn for letting us use Stil's showroom on weekend.

Some of you guys might notice that I've been busy working on an editorial. I had 1 week to prepare everything from laying out concepts, getting designers garments, contact model/makeup artist, find location and it was a super rush, super tight schedule. So one week, with limited budget.

Tip #1: get to the location yourself or get them to take photos for the prep. I learned this the hard way - when I had to change the location one day before the shoot, so you don't have to.

Expect changes (lots of changes). 99.99% of the time things don't go according to plan so be anticipative and have a plan b, c and so forth. This is no joke, I had makeup artist/cameraman calling in about rescheduling a night before the shoot. 2 days earlier the agency rescheduled my model's flight so she had to fly out sooner than expected. Tip #2: be anticipative and expect to manage a certain level of damage control.

At the end of the day you've given out all your best-est but there will be disrespectful people who just won't recognize your hard work. This is an outside factor - there's nothing controllable about it. So pad yourself in the back and move on. I was praised: "worst organization ever" after being in the middle of the a hobo fight and trapped inside that bus the gang was on when I was on my way to go see the first location myself.

Tip #3: get help! Seriously, you can't do everything by yourself. I won't do it again if I have to go through it alone. It's drainage and SAP-ish. So go get help from your fellow workmanship.

I hope these tips help one way or another.

Footage of Anna Dello Russo for H&M on exclusive samples. She posted this one Nov 3rd so must have been days before bloggers started receiving invitations and sample dresses. Still! The idea is so forward and personalized. I've never seen any other business so personalized as in our world - well except direct sales anyway. Oh, as heard from Anna, there will be an haute couture fashion show by Lanvin for H&M. The drill is: everybody can buy the customized pieces, damn I wish I live in NY, Milan, Paris, all 3-1.

First thought about Anna..

is what a crazy old woman. But lesson learnt: "never judge a book by its cover." Anna Dello Russo started collection her today's extravagant collection since 15. Now she stores them in all places she goes. Truth is she never wears the same outfit from previous season. Too much you think? You're right. Except that each and every piece of her garments goes to fashion historians; so they can learn about fashion in our time.

Leather Biker Jacket Needed

I'm pretty sure some of you have watched Fringe. I'm putting a couple of screenshots of Olivia wearing this leather biker jacket. Body fitted but I'm also seeing a thin knitted collar so I'm thinking, "hey, this'd look good with long maxi skirt and I don't have one of these!"

I've actually tried TopShop's biker jacket and it fits me just wonderfully. But I don't have a big spender plan on my mind right now so I'm thinking in terms of thrift shop or vintage store. Forever 21 has a pretty decent price too. I love the exclusive design of bomber jacket from Urban Outfitter but I'm not sure how fit it is especially in the back. So which one is most resemblance to Olivia's? A little bit of all combined I think.

The more you stray away from your comfort zone, the more you open yourself to opportunities and a chance to learn. The past week has been extravagantly crazy for me; new people new community. I haven't moved anywhere, just me projecting myself onto new environment (almost new culture). People from places who have also taught me about life. What I lack, I'm gaining it back, bit by bit.

Shoes are girl's best friend

Despite the fact that I'm having visionary blurred condition, I've managed to take some photos of the shoes I bought yesterday. Thanks to the lady [shop owner] for putting my goods on hold - her items are sold out fast! Enough that all the goodies I saw were gone for good.

vintage buckle strapped ankle boots, vintage sandal heels

The buckle strapped ankle booties are incredibly cozy. They're actually a 1/2 size larger than my feet; plenty of room of movement. And what an unexpected soft platforms. The sandal heels instead, are half size smaller - everything fits like a second skin. I have to admit they look better being worn. A shot with them next time then.

I seriously need something for the astigmatism. Toric contact lens might be a good choice but that would cost $133 each year ($60/month). If left unattended I'll be getting headache, plus blurry vision. So please excuse me if I don't respond right away - can't stare at computer screen consecutively. Make note, I read every comments and appreciate the lot. xox

New light of November

Imagine waking up one day and suddenly your visionary shifted blur. It's quite startling at first since my eye sight should have been stabilized by now. So now I have an axis of -200 of astigmatism on my right eye. Dang it feels like living in a funhouse mirror except this isn't so much fun.

I'm halfway through the lesson; 6 out of 12 then I'm starting my first actual pattern-making and production. My reason is very simple: I want to have my own DIY kimono cape. Then maybe I can start selling them? Happy Halloween readers.

Airborne 101

I just had this epiphany when I got this chill while riding to my routine sewing session. Then I realize Bangkok wasn't this cold early time of month. So I never bother with thick fabrics but now come to think of it, there's been a huge push onto aviator jackets and hence they're resurrected. I have been witnessing bloggers wearing it again (after having tucked them away for couple of years). Others find way to catch up with trend on vintage finds - faux fur for $4.7 (what?!!) for instance.

Here's the concept: 'layer on layer styling'. I needed something ruffling inside thicker fabric to balance out that concrete look an aviator jacket projects. Never would have a chance to wear this in Thailand of course but hey, can't say it wasn't fun.

If you guys do find that vintage sells I talked about, don't forget to give me a heads-up.

Looks like the excitement of Fashion Night Out hasn’t only sparkled the economy of fashion in just one specific region but worldwide, yes I’m talking about Bangkok International Fashion Week [BIFW].

Koi Suwannagate is an international-based Thai designer whose works are recognized in Hollywood. Her signature includes hand-dyed knitted flowers. The concept here is a redefined capsule collection using light fabric - organza is suitable for humid tropical city such as ours.

I did a quick tour to Siam Paragon to attend one of the most talented Thai designers known as K & I. She's unbelievably young for her current social status - I mean, to perceive such market needs and not to be influenced by 'alter ego' is something. I know, sounds like a big supporter but I really am impressed by her collection.

I have to excuse my poor images though, there's a good reason for the wacky incident though. The lens is detached so I couldn't adjust F-stop any higher than 3.5 - meaning I'm left with speed shutter as an option. But taking pictures in dark space requires slower speed shutter if I'm gonna shoot with low F-stop. Given that, I had to do panning, not so crisp and clear I know. But hey, I'm so in love with the soundtrack and waiting for tech-guy to pull the video. I plan to post this collection again with clearer pictures & video so you guys can see them in movement :)

The designer I had recently worked with just called. She's having her runway tomorrow and good news is: she used our editorials for flyers with credits given to everyone who worked on that set! I'm becoming 'someone' bit by bit lol

I forgot to mention when I posted my Wishlist that I'm also inspired by Nicole's gold polished fingers. Apparently I've been seeing a lot of gold lately. I never taught the color would suit me but the result came out somewhat satisfiable.

I feel more feminine; a Cleopatra reminiscent. Speaking of which, did you know that they made her majesty eyeshadow out of crocodile waste? Extravagantly creative for a 2,000-year old R&D team. Heck, that's a long time.

Somebody remind me to pick up BIFW [Bangkok International Fashion Week] tickets tomorrow please. Albeit we have a strange way of rearrangements but regardless, fashion week is here - meaning more photos on the way. Am I excited? You bet.

I went to my Sundays sewing session but sorry guys, no photos. Did you know the weather kinda went crazy all over? Not just here but everywhere. Couple days back it was raining 24-hour non-stop. It's just irritating to plod in mud and somewhat rocky pavement. You won't believe how far out of town this place is. Will show you pictures next time promise!

Onto my innate urges...

I've been thrift shopping a lot lately. Got most my precious vintage items from this shop and trust me when I say 'precious' because it means the shop is heavily loaded with vintage shoes and best of all at affordable price. I've bought two pairs this week. Sharing with you guys are my ankle boots which I wore in this shoot. I'm keeping another pair as a tease for now.

Also bought a new sleeveless cardigan for layering which I think is suitable for fall in Thailand. It's getting cold but never quite there.

You know what, it feels so good to be able to do what I love to do. I like fashion and I'm compelled to share by making it real. While making magazine I get to stretch myself out more; from making connections to executing photoshoot like a real fashion editor does. It's fatigue but fun. What do I get out of it: my online portfolio, experiences and duty to be responsible for 'cause it's not just me any more.

Wishlist for this Fall

I've seen many bloggers do this so I decided it's time I share something of my own ((smirks)). Harajuku/Shibuya streetwear has always been summat tantalizing - free of rules, excluded from western influences that no one seems to conform.

Japanese-inspired kimono dress: not something I'm looking forward to buy but something I'd make myself. DIY can be the most mesmerizing thing us fellow bloggers can share. I want on my own wardrobe to imply my individuality. I can wear it 366-day no sweat as long as it feels like "me".
Nicole's rings: I want them both! Just the minute I saw it I know I'm compelled, twisted, love-blinded.. Yes, been there. I'm a huge fan of caffein that if it were serious I would have to get a rehab. But then again, shopping is cheaper than therapist.
ASOS ring: beautiful and unique. (I need to suppress my shopping urges.)
Alexander Wang Rocco leather studded: saving. I'm a slave for leather wear and not Britney-ish either.
Alexander Wang Freja tall boot: not necessarily needed be from our lovely Wang but what I love is the style combination of ankle lace-up and tall boot.
Tattoo: I'm looking forward to getting one of my own, smaller ones below my belly and upper arms. Not sometimes soon but I'd love to get them. :)

Sound sets the mood.

It's been a while since I post my look. There's no excuse for my procrastination. For newers who just discover my blog: just so you know I do a lot of thrift-hunt. My plan of past weekend was to get my website done (1) and secondly to craft my skill in sewing (see previous post). Have a leap of faith, no? Pragmatism is a quality of go-getter non-quitter; like a song unsung - act now or get nowhere. Even if you fail you'd fail amongst the things you love.

My first sewing session started today – not exactly your glamorous picturesque you see in Dolce & Gabbana sartorialita. But then again, all basics might be as well learnt from seamstresses who actually work in the industry. Fashion is a mixture of trend forecasting and merchandising; one that reforms great formula of sewing skills with craftsmanship to construct contemporary wear. Just like a son of business owner who has to learn his way up in his career path to make a perfect figure of businessman.

First touch is the roughest. Hands-on experience with industrial sewing machine. Average finished time by experienced seamstress equals to 5 mins.

All of us must sew these paper 10 times.

Remember Rome wasn’t built in one day – industrial sewing session now, leather bag later. The difference between fashion sewing classes and industrial sewing classes is determined by the perfection of finished products but both is applicable to one another if you know what you’re doing. One way or another, hands-on experience is the most optimal approach. In this session, 80% of my time will be consumed with me sitting in front of industrial sewing machine. Sacrifice that perfectly balances out.

Google! I find something new. Have you ever asked yourself 'how much your blog worth?' - I never did, not until I hit this engine.

My blog is new and it worths roughly around ~$500 where sartorialist.blogspot worths something like $600k. I think you can get pretty good idea on how much you should be charging if contacted by online retails (a research is advantageous - there are companies out there who would take benefits over your hard work!). I fell completely in love with these pair of shoes. Don't take wooden chunky stacked heels for granted for they're very light weighted - allow swift movement. Like all the wedges, this one balances out my weight so no more tired legs after long walk. Comes in two colors; camel & black but I'm better off with black. I thought chunky stacked heels wouldn't elongate your legs but I have to admit, this one is an exception. I'm totally impressed, totally broke as well lol

Finally, everything I've decided to do has taken shape! The magazine will be part of my digital flagship (that's all I can tell for now). I am super excited and ready to work hard. Fashion inspiration workshop..

I was so glad to take part in this workshop at Mood today. Our lecturer; Mr.Teerarit, is a graduate from Istituto Marangoni Milan majored in fashion styling. Back then I didn't even know that fashion forecast exists! Fashion is a business, a huge one. And there's more than meets the eyes about being fashion designers. To fully understand it you have to remove every glamorous tear sheets you see in the magazine (even movies). Fashion designers work really hard and rarely have time for family or friends. They spend about 5-10% of their time being creative with paper and pencil and most of the time being an entrepreneur. Speaking of which kinda reminds me of how I used to jumped the gun about design.

I was commented on how being a 'perfectionist' isn't productive. There's a process to everything; from finding inspiration, mapping ideas, making mood board and then there's commercial design analysis. I visualize the finished look but instead of being creative I was blocking potential windfall. Sketching shouldn't make you feel morose. Even if it's not a salient sketch but it does in term of seminal. Don't over-think it, just go banana!

Makeup workshop..

So I attained the workshop yesterday and it was held really early in the morning (not a morning person that I am) but it felt good actually. I mean there're so many things to do and waking up early means longer hours.

I had a hidden agenda attending the makeup workshop though. Like many of you guys, I learn my techniques and how-to on Youtube. But as long as I'm running my own fashion e-mag, I'm gonna need more people on board. Back then I had 0 contact in the fashion industry. But through several social networking or getting together with people of mutual interest, you are actually placing your foot in the right direction.

When the workshop finished, it was getting really cloudy and about to rain (not cool especially during seasonal flu 2010). Maybe I should be getting vaccinated just in case. 'Nyway, back to the shopping spree. Didn't really buy any clothes but I've got a really good book written about fashion industry. It guides you through the whole process; you'll understand the reasoning behind the marginal cost, how samples are delivered, why runway. It's called 'The Fashion Designer's Survival Guide".

The museum is not far from where I was at. Asides from showcase, the place also allows artists to bring talent to those who would love to have their portraits hand-drawn into a canvas of A3 size.

This one really gets me: some would call an artist choice of muse. I only remembered partial of its description though. The film run through a projector behind my back in a dark square room. It had black curtain covered everything so it was really pitch dark so all you could see was a big projected screen in front. Capture outside describes something like this: When God created the World He had a magical bag. African had been blessed with natural resources and physical strength. But upon the arrival of western colonialism, African was left with slavery, poverty and eternal oblivion.

Bloggers, I hope you think about fashion philanthropy. Not now but when you have excess. Maybe someone out there is in desperate need of help.

Teenage mood..

Well mainstream music is not my thing but this time I fell completely in love with Katy Perry (after watching x-factor x-rated lifesaver clip yeah!). So I youtubed her and listened to her single: "Teenage Dream". Gotta say, the male protagonist is smokin' hot (she does know her stuff).

So I did a mood board out of this inspiration. The theme is as the title implies; teenage dream - I think everyone's got one every once in a while. If life gets too hard it's okay to take a slow walk and just feel the breeze. Go banana, get cranked, drunk, almost sober but never really, hang with friends & wake up late.

Cheeze - featuring street wear of teenagers in Thailand. The magazine just becomes available today on the newsstands you can find in Bangkok. The style doesn't vary much from these past months. Long maxi b/w stripes is still a favorite among Thai teenagers including stripes and dotted shorts.

Been out to the location where our photo shoot is gonna take place. Didn't go too well when you have to do almost everything by yourself though *sighs*. The honcho who runs the place is definitely an articulate guy (not in a good way) and very annoying. I guess if your morning starts badly then it's all drained for the rest of the day. Anyway, just posted the look du jour onto my lookbook (please vote to cheer me up guys!)

Got a chance to stop by at Silom st. The most fascinating thing is how they sell affordable clothes\accessories on pedestrian. I bought myself a belt at $2!

to witness major fashion show here in Bangkok Metropolitan. The event will be held between October 20-26 under the theme Gateway To World Fashion In Asia". Honestly, our neighbor was enjoying Korean FNO while Bangkok is asleep. But nevertheless, the fashion will be held and I'll be witnessing this seven-day fair including a fashion show from Vivien Westwood. Can't wait.

A glimpse of student's Moodboard at FKCC. I've been doing a lot of research involving fashion trend recently. Running your own e-magazine really stretches individual abilities. I can recall being shy, self-centered, keeping everything to myself. And now it's all about e-communicating, people hunting, networking. There's a lot to talk about networking though. The most basic fundamental is twitter - it allows 2-way communication! :)

Blazer makes plain t-shirt a more interesting piece. It's 102F but original fashion blazer doesn't necessarily be that thick and we were getting trigger-happy with the camera.

I did dig a little deeper and found something cozy about this site - you can rent a space on this site to open a personal online shop. Most of the retail owners are teenagers which is cool since they are the ones who spontaneously are monitoring the current trend, what's hype, what's not, Cheezy-style!

If you happen to come by Bangkok, I recommend Seacon Square Department Store which locates in Srinakarin Rd. The mall is easily accessible via bus and taxi. It should be pretty easy getting here judged by the number of expats spending time here on weekends. Click here to see where.

On the 4th floor you have a variety of clothes - prices ranging from $9-$39. If still have time to spare, drop by the 2nd floor for more clothes, accessories and sea of shoes.

This is by far, one of my favorite shoe stores; they look edgy but very comfortable to wear with. You can look flashy on the street all day long without having to worry about the shoe pinches.There's a special discount on every 5th and 10th pair of shoes bought too.

Yes, we do have Korean cosmetics in Bangkok metropolis! Here's a shot from Etude House on the 1st floor. Time for nail colors. Not as pricey as Chanel but the finishing polished fingers deliver as good as one.

My fav is Lilac Blush.

Well, I had this big interest of pink/purple shaded long hair in the past so I went ahead and did it. Color tolerance wasn't so good if you choose the wrong hair product (should have balanced pH otherwise color wears off as easy). I recommend Joico for long-lasting color (the pink one).
